The implementation of mandatory ID scanners for certain premises within safe night precincts has been postponed.
This scheme was schedule to commence on 1 July 2015, as part of the Safe Night Out Strategy.
It is yet to be determined whether ID scanners are an appropriate and cost effective mechanism to support the enforcement of patron bans.
In the near future, we will engage in industry stakeholder forums to determine your views on mandatory ID scanners with the common goal of tackling alcohol fuelled violence.
